I have a French mini Bob by the following fall for about a year, first undercut while the underneath grew, and then by about summer 19 we started really just blunt cutting it and it got past my ears and into better territory (over the ear is The worst part). I learned alot and I have no regrets and growing out my hair healthy has been alot of fun! That was Halloween 2017 I shopped it off and Jan 18 I started to grow it back, so last buzz trim. I ended up getting so frustrated that another month or two later I went like Miley cryus or Pink faux hawk shaved side, buzzed Short pixie. That wasn't short enough for those front pieces still. A mullet! So I died it darker so it had some internal integrity back and got it cut to a bob. I ended up with cheek-jaw length in front and collar bone length in the back. It still kept splitting around my face because at the trim, I wouldn't let them cut those already short pieces. I did a trim but too late, a few monhs after I got it to white Ash. In hairschool I did like alot of young stylists and bleached my hair too hard till it was fluffy and heat damaged it to style the fluff. Hairstylist here 👋 Ive seen this enough, but also lived it. But she said she will take shoulder length hair if it means staying blonde so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Having both of those will cause more harm faster. If trims aren’t helpful like she said, shouldn’t she have long hair since she never cuts it? There’s a difference between split ends we get from just having hair vs actual hair breaking and snapping because of extreme damage. My friend’s hair keeps breaking off and can’t grow past shoulder length anymore. So you’re six months out and now you end up shorter than if you had just trimmed.Īnd obviously overtime it’s cumulative. Now it’s not a trim- now it’s a cut to compensate for all the breakage. So now your hair already lost some inches from breakage, but it’s uneven (those hair salon pics where one section is 4 inches shorter in her hair so she has to cut there to make it even). Your hair keeps breaking and rides up (not immediately, slowly.) You lost the inches you tried keeping anyways, but now the ends are frayed, and the split ends don’t happen where it’s ONLY damaged- it happens higher up too above all the bleach. Breakage happens, your bottom hair is becoming uneven as this happens. If you don’t cut (like my friend) the dead ends, your hair literally keeps snapping off. Your hair grows in evenly from the trim and you have maybe half an inch of split or dry ends after those 6 months to cut. Just some split ends which naturally happen overtime to ends. If you cut and remove that 1-2 inches of damage, then wait 6 months to see if you gotta trim there’s no breakage happening anymore (where the hair snaps off). That’s because mayonnaise contains proteins, peptides, and fatty acids that are needed for shiny and healthy hair.Just explained this to my friend when she said she never gets trims but bleaches blonde every 6 months: You can use mayonnaise - yes, I said mayo! - as a hair mask before you wash it. If you are on a tighter budget and you don’t want to spend on salon services, there is another option for you with something you might already have at home! When you apply coconut oil, it will lock the proteins in your hair cuticle, and the olive will bring back the shine. I don’t have to worry about it being toxic to kids and pets.Īnother popular combo for pretreating your hair is a mixture of coconut oil and olive oil. It’s a quick way to give your hair something extra, and I love it because it’s natural. You’re using natural oil as a pretreatment before the shampoo stage. You only need a light coat through your hair.

Then run your hands through the rest of your hair from the base. Rub argan oil on your palms to warm it up, and then through the bottom half of your hair length.
